After the garbage collectors, the railway workers call a strike on May 21

He believes that the railway workers will only have “crumbs”. The Sud Rail Ile-de-France union launched, this Thursday, a call for a strike at the SNCF for the day of May 21. Objective: to put pressure on management while a round table is organized the next day concerning the organization of the Paris Olympic Games, and the bonuses which will be paid to agents. According to the union, the SNCF is only offering compensation of 50 euros gross per day of presence this summer. Problem: Sud Rail asks for twice as much, net.

Thus, they threaten to disrupt the functioning of transport in Ile-de-France while the garbage collectors have also shown their muscles by filing, via the CGT, two strike notices, including one for the month of May. The union is demanding an “exceptional bonus” of 1,900 euros and a monthly increase of 400 euros for all staff.

“Playing blackmail”

“Today, playing blackmail is not the collective spirit that should be ours a few weeks before the Olympic and Paralympic Games,” reacted this Thursday on Franceinfo Nelly Garnier, vice-president of the Republicans (LR), councilor for Paris and Île-de-France, on the garbage collectors’ movement.

Last week, a new attempt to save the smooth running of transport this summer was organized, this time on the side of the RATP. It seems that it was conclusive with the end of the negotiations: bonuses of 1,600 to 2,500 euros were offered to metro and RER drivers for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
