After the birth of their son Kaymronne, a couple harassed with hateful comments

He was born on New Year’s Day. First baby of 2024 from the maternity ward of the Saint-Malo hospital (Ille-et-Vilaine), the little man was entitled to his photo in the local media. A chestnut from the local French press, who likes meeting the last parents of December as much as the first babies of January.

In Saint-Malo, the first baby of the year is called Kaymronne. A first name derived from Cameron chosen by his parents Stessy and Johnny to stick to the tradition of the “k” already adopted for their two daughters Kayla and Kenzianne.

A first name which has not been the subject of any dispute from the prosecution, which prefers to stand up against the tildes on Fañch’s first name rather than the original spellings chosen by the parents. Because in France, the law allows parents to choose the first name they want, including creating a new one. The only obligation: the first name “must not be contrary to the interests of the child” and therefore cannot be “ridiculous” or “rude”, specifies French justice.

Smear campaign

Legally, Kaymronne’s parents are therefore perfectly within their rights. The problem for the couple based in Ille-et-Vilaine is that they are currently being judged by the Internet court. Since the publication of the articles of West France and Country Malouin, parents are victims of a real smear campaign on social networks. “We were told that it was the name of a dog, a dog and so on… It’s very heavy, we should be happy right now and in fact everyone is making fun of us,” confided the mother to BFMTV, explaining that she felt “humiliated”. Some criticize this choice, which “stigmatizes the child for life”.

According to our colleagues, the couple requested the removal of the posts from the local press, in the hope of stopping the mockery.
