Quentin Dupieux sets the charts on fire

“It’s the story of a guy, he’s going to have his fill…” This is the ultra-simple pitch, yet full of tension and suspense, of the Full. It is this super short film, signed Charlie Moreno, which received this Saturday evening from the hands of Quentin Dupieux the Grand Prize of the jury of the 14th Nikon Film Festival. A deserved reward as this little dramatic film manages, in 2 minutes 20 minutes, to retrace the dramatic thread of the life of a man in distress with a consummate art of suggestion.

A festival very open to the public

Other films put to powder the “fire” of the imposed theme and deserve their rewards. The public prize for example, awarded by vote on the Internet to Ya Hanouni by Lyna Tadount and Sofian Chouaib: the story of a father and a mother who argue over the first word of a baby in his cradle against the backdrop of a terrorist attack.

If we cite this award in the first place, it is because the Nikon Film Festival is one of the rare cinematographic events to share its entire programming with the public on a dedicated site. And the films on the list are obviously still visible. 20 minutes shares the links with you, just click on the titles to see the films.

And appreciate the performance of the two singularly talented interpretation prizes: Hélène Martinelli in 5th B by Arnaud Huck, who jostles a former classmate in the street and Samir Decazza, in Warming up by Jana Judor, who details to a friend what he has planned to succeed in his date evening. Two films with a fall as subtle as it is unexpected. Just like that of Free Max by Marc Allal and Hugo Hamdad, screenplay prize, whose final shot leaves you speechless.

The child from “Anatomy of a Fall” in “Self-Portrait”

We really like the media prize awarded to Anechoic by Enzo Croizier (20 minutes was part of this jury), as well as the Alice Guy Prize awarded to Marie Poupinet for Self-portrait where we enjoy finding Milo Machado Granerthe child ofAnatomy of a fall. It was also the favorite film of the author of these lines, who ultimately only has one regret: that the very flamboyant animated western Al Umett’s Revenge leaves like a damp firecracker, that is to say empty-handed. But the competition, which brought together 2,272 films this year, was once again particularly tough.
