The Lacanau gendarmes were called on March 11, 2023 around 9 a.m. for what looked like a road traffic accident. Inside a burning car, on the edge of a secondary road, in Lacanau, the owner of the vehicle was discovered dead, charred. An investigation into intentional homicide had been opened before investigators discovered, inside the charred vehicle, “two impacted shell casings as well as a gasoline-type accelerating product used to set the vehicle on fire”, specifies the Bordeaux prosecutor’s office in a press release this Thursday. These new elements trigger the opening of a judicial investigation into the murder charge.
The jealous husband eliminated his rival
The investigation by the Lesparre-Médoc gendarmes, following a rogatory commission, quickly focused “on a 55-year-old man, married and de facto separated from his wife at the time of the events. This one, holder of several weapons, was arrested at his home in the Gironde department by the GIGN branch in Toulouse on October 3, 2023,” specifies the press release.
During his police custody, the fifty-year-old admitted “not having tolerated the separation from his partner, who, according to him, had an extramarital relationship with the victim”. He was indicted for murder and placed in pre-trial detention, pending his trial.
