In “Dr. Nice” Josefine Preuß plays a brilliant doctor’s assistant. With “Turkish for Beginners” she became a celebrated audience favorite.

Played with the then refreshingly politically incorrect and award-winning culture clash early evening series “Turkish for Beginners” (2006-2008). Josefine Preuß (38) won the hearts of the audience. The actress, who was born in Zehdenick, Brandenburg, played the daughter of a German-Turkish blended family in it – and in the film of the same name (2012). As Helena Claudette “Lena” Schneider, she clashed primarily with her patchwork brother Cemil “Cem” Öztürk (Elyas M’Barek, 41). The format devised and created by Bora Dagtekin (45, “Fack ju Göhte” series) also catapulted him into the top German acting league.

From comedy to history specialist

After her big breakthrough, Josefine Preuß also shone on television in the “Lotta” films (since 2010) as the chaotic and impulsive Charlotte “Lotta” Brinkhammer. This was followed in the cinema by, among other things, the fantasy trilogy Ruby Red (2013), Sapphire Blue (2014) and Emerald Green (2016), in which she played Lucy Montrose, the tenth time traveler in the Circle of Twelve.

Speaking of time travel. The actress has repeatedly impressed in historical films and multi-part series about world-famous grand hotels such as “Das Adlon. A Family Saga” (2013) or “Das Sacher. In Best Company” (2016). It wasn’t just the audience who particularly liked the equipment and costumes. “I was even allowed to keep my entire mourning outfit, which I also wear to the monastery at the end of the first part. I’m very grateful for that because it includes this great lace blouse that covers the whole neck and the great skirt. And also the jacket I imagine it would look great with jeans or more modern trousers,” Preuss enthused about the special clothing in a 2017 interview with spot on news.

It also became historic in “The Pilgrim” (2014) and “The Midwife” (2014, 2016) – for the latter role she was awarded the Bambi in the national actress category. The Berliner by choice received her first award in 2005. For her acting performance in five episodes of the police series “Section 40” she was awarded the German Television Prize’s Young Actor Promotion Prize.

Josefine Preuß can also write crime novels

But not only comedic and historical elements can be found in Prussia’s filmography, but also in the cult crime thriller “Tatort”: she was seen in the Lena Odenthal crime thriller “Tatort – Vermisst” (2009) and in the Ritter/Stark crime thriller “Tatort – The Impossibility of Imagining Death” (2010) from Berlin and in “Tatort – Turkish Honey” (2014) with the Leipzig investigator duo Saalfeld and Keppler.

In the German-Austrian TV series “Nemez and Sneijder Investigate” Josefine Preuß has been playing a commissioner herself since 2019. “What generally excites me is playing as different roles as possible in different genres. This also includes a crime thriller every now and then for my own personal little shocker moments,” she said in an interview with the news agency in 2019 at the start of Sat.1 -Crime series.

Josefine Preuß as doctor’s assistant Charlie in “Dr. Nice”

Since 2023, Josefine Preuß has been playing the brilliant doctor’s assistant Charlie Winkler, who works for the eponymous former star surgeon Dr. Neiss (Patrick Kalupa, 44), who reluctantly has to retrain as a family doctor because of his injured hand. In addition, Charlie raises her late partner’s teenage daughter, who has a brief liaison with the usually not-so-nice Dr. Moritz Neiss comes from…

After the two successful opening episodes last year, ZDF will show the next four episodes of the unusual and worth seeing medical series with probably the most stylish doctor in the TV cosmos from May 5th, 8:15 p.m. A third season with six episodes has already been confirmed.
