Every year the ADAC lists the most popular campsites in Europe. This time in first place is a place in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.

Germany is a camping country. 21 percent of Germans aged 16 and over are campers, and the trend is rising. This was the result of a survey by the General German Automobile Club (ADAC). And Europe is a real paradise for all lovers of holidays on four wheels. There are more than 3,000 campsites in Germany alone, and there are more than ten times as many across Europe. Campers are spoiled for choice as to where their next trip should go. A quiet spot in Normandy, France? Action vacation in Croatia – or would you rather hunt for the Northern Lights across Scandinavia?

In order to narrow down the selection somewhat, the booking portal camping.info publishes the Camping Award every year and selects the best campsites across Europe based on user reviews. This year, the ranking of 23,000 sites in 44 European countries shows once again that you don’t have to travel far to find a great place to camp. Campgrounds that seem to be particularly popular can be found especially in Germany, Austria and Italy. The disadvantage: it can get really crowded here, especially in high season. If you book in time, you should still be able to get a parking space on one of the most popular places in Europe.
