Accident on the A99 – overloaded trailer tilts at full speed – district of Munich

On Wednesday afternoon at the Munich-Ost motorway junction, the trailer of a 68-year-old driver from Austria tipped on its side at full speed, causing long traffic delays. The man turned at about 3:50 p.m. at excessive speed on the transition from the A 99 to the A 94 in the direction of Passau when the trailer began to sway. The reason for this, in addition to the excessive speed, was massive overloading of the trailer. According to the Hohenbrunn Traffic Police Inspectorate, the trailer, designed for 500 kilograms, was loaded with furniture and a total weight of 1,500 kilograms – that was clearly too much for the vehicle in the tight curve. The transition to the Autobahn was completely blocked by the police as a result of the accident. It took three hours to rescue the emergency services before the road could be used again. The driver was largely unharmed.
