AC/DC’s first drummer dies

He took the highway, but alone this time. On Instagram, He was 77 years old. Colin Burgess was one of the founding members of the group, best known for his global hit Highway to Hell from 1979, alongside original singer Dave Evans, bassist Larry Van Kriedt and guitarist brothers Angus and Malcolm Young.

“We are very sad to learn of his passing,” AC/DC wrote on Instagram, X (formerly Twitter) and Facebook. “He was our first drummer and a very respected musician. Happy memories, “Rock in peace Colin”adds the text.

As a reminder, AC/DC was formed in 1973, but Colin Burgess left the group the following year and was replaced by current drummer, Phil Rudd. He also founded the band The Masters Apprentices, which was inducted into the Australian Music Industry Hall of Fame in 1998.
