Abensberger Brewery Kuchlbauer is building a new logistics center – no Hundertwasser – Bavaria

The Hundertwasser Tower is the landmark of the Abensberg brewery Zum Kuchlbauer. Now the company is building another eye-catching building: a logistics center that will also provide answers to the climate crisis and the shortage of skilled workers.

It takes imagination to imagine the future, because it is still a construction site. But the walls and the roof are already there, as are some other things that you don’t necessarily need for a warehouse. Outside, a kind of hanging garden stands out in the April rain. Inside, despite the gray clouds, light shines through large windows. The hall is still largely empty, apart from Jacob Horsch and a few workers. But beer will soon be shipped from here across Bavaria, in a climate-friendly and employee-friendly way. And beer price-friendly: If he built the building like many other logistics halls, Horsch calculates, “I might pay it off in eight years.” But afterwards he still has the difficult situation in terms of energy and personnel, which he can then “transfer to the crate of beer in a vicious circle”.
