Sunday, a windsurfer was found safe and sound, off Gruissan (Aude), after having spent eighteen hours in great difficulty in the cold waters of the Mediterranean.

The rescuers of the SNSM were alerted to his disappearance on Saturday, around 3:30 p.m. Immediately, large means were deployed to try to find his trace: the SNSM, but also the maritime gendarmes, the National Navy, the firefighters, Civil Security, two planes and two helicopters.

“The looks were sad”

The man and his windsurfing board could not be located, and the search was suspended overnight from Sunday to Monday, and hopes of finding him are dwindling. “When we parted, (…) the looks were sad, reports the SNSM. The hope of finding the missing windsurfer alive was so small. “

But Monday morning, help finally spot the windsurfer, lying on his board. A few minutes later, he is rescued, conscious, but in hypothermia, indicates the SNSM. He was taken care of at Narbonne hospital. “He is doing well,” continues the SNSM. We all salute here this warrior of exceptional mental strength! He knew how to wait for the miracle. “
