A 40-year-old man was indicted for manslaughter after fatally hitting a girl on a ski slope on Saturday January 15 in Haute-Savoie, AFP reported on Tuesday to the Bonneville prosecutor’s office. He was going down a slope at Flaine ski resort at high speed.

The speed at the origin of the drama

The defendant, accustomed to the Flaine station, was placed on Monday January 17 under judicial supervision, said the same source, confirming information of the press. A volunteer firefighter, he would have provided first aid to the girl, a young Briton residing with her family in Geneva, in vain.

According to the prosecution, the excessive speed of the skier is at the origin of the tragedy. The five-year-old girl was taking part in a course at the French Ski School (ESF) when she was hit. The child died in the helicopter transporting her to the hospital.
