A restaurateur and a mayor save a cow from the slaughterhouse

Antoine Martin, a restaurateur from Angles (Pyrénées-Orientales), and André-Luc Montagnier (without label), the mayor of Fleury d’Aude (Aude), will not leave the Agricultural Show empty-handed. The two men, who organize agricultural fairs in their towns, fell for Omerta, a blonde from Aquitaine weighing around 1.2 tons, which was destined for the slaughterhouse, says The Independent.

“We had a crush” for this cow, confides Antoine Martin, to the regional daily. “We decided to pardon her. “His breeder, based in Tarn-et-Garonne, is “passionate and very touching”, adds André-Luc Montagnier.

“Omerta will share his time between the Angles and the Loustalet estate, in Saint-Pierre-de-la-mer”, adds the elected Aude. And she will be the mascot of Fleury d’Aude, where many curious people will undoubtedly want to approach the one who narrowly escaped the slaughterhouse.
