A police officer kidnapped then found in a state of shock on a beach

On Saturday, a reservist gendarme was found in a state of shock on a beach in Pas-de-Calais, we learned this Monday from the Boulogne-sur-Mer public prosecutor’s office. An investigation into kidnapping and intentional violence against a person holding public authority has been opened.

The reservist gendarme, who was assigned to the fight against illegal immigration, was found on Saturday on Pauvres beach in Etaples. He was “in a state of shock”, indicated the Boulogne-sur-Mer public prosecutor’s office, confirming information from the daily North Coast.

Kidnapped by smugglers?

“He indicated that he had been kidnapped in a vehicle which could correspond to a vehicle which could be involved in procedures to assist the illegal entry and stay” of migrants, said the prosecution.

The reservist was prescribed ten days of total incapacity for work, mainly due to “post-traumatic” shock, he added. The investigation into these facts, described as “atypical”, was entrusted to the research brigade of the Ecuires gendarmerie. No arrests have taken place at this stage.
