While he intervened for a wild dump

“He was attacked by one of his constituents while he was acting within the framework of his police powers and intervening for illegal dumping,” the prefect’s chief of staff, Bernard Burckel, explained to AFP. “The person did not accept the elected official’s admonitions and punched him and hit him once he was on the ground,” he continued.

The mayor was hospitalized and must be examined by a doctor from the medical-judicial unit for a suspected fracture in the orbital floor. “The prefect spoke to him on the phone and he is also supported by a lot of elected officials, national and regional, as well as ministers,” said Bernard Burckel.
