A man on the run injured by the Raid after refusing to comply

A man on the run was injured by Raid fire on Tuesday morning in Woippy (Moselle), near Metz. He had refused to comply and pulled out a weapon in front of the agents, indicated the Metz prosecutor, confirming information from the Lorraine Republican. The 56-year-old man was hospitalized and placed in police custody, said Yves Badorc.

The man was the subject of a search warrant for facts of escape and was about to be arrested by the Raid at the start of the day in Woippy when he, according to the first elements, refused to comply, striking at the wheel of a vehicle and on several occasions that of the police, confirmed Yves Badorc.

Investigation for “attempted murder”

He also exhibited a weapon, which later turned out to be fake, the prosecutor said. The police then used their weapons. The injured man was taken to hospital.

An investigation was opened for “attempted murder of a person holding public authority, violence against a person holding public authority and refusal to comply”. A second investigation is entrusted to the General Inspectorate of the National Police (IGPN).
