A man born in 1989 in Pakistan was indicted and placed in pre-trial detention, suspected of having raped several prostitutes in the Bois de Boulogne, the Paris prosecutor’s office said on Wednesday, confirming a information from Franceinfo. The man was indicted for “rape and attempted rape to the detriment of people engaged in prostitution, which is an aggravating circumstance,” said the prosecution.
The suspect, nicknamed “El Indiano”, according to franceinfo, is suspected of having dragged prostitutes into the undergrowth after making them a chokehold to rape them. He was remanded in custody, it was added.
The Pakistani denies the facts
The women were attacked just after an encounter with a customer, in the middle of the night. Some said they had been threatened with a knife, a nunchaku – a combat weapon used in Asian martial arts –, brass knuckles, a baseball bat and a firearm, details the public service radio website.
Still according to franceinfo, the man was able to be arrested on Saturday on the basis of photographs taken by the prostitutes and transmitted to investigators from the 1st district of the Parisian judicial police. At least three prostitutes had described a man matching the suspect’s description after being sexually assaulted as early as 2022.
The Pakistani allegedly contested the accusations while in police custody, explaining that he went to the Bois de Boulogne to have paid sex, according to the radio.
