A man in police custody for dragging a municipal police officer after refusing to comply

It’s a check that went very wrong. A man was taken into police custody in Lyon for dragging a municipal policeman a few meters with his vehicle after refusing to comply, the city prosecutor’s office said on Saturday.

Friday evening, “during a check on an illegally parked vehicle, a municipal police officer was carried away a few meters when starting the vehicle whose driver intended to evade control,” said the prosecution. The policeman, whose hand was stuck in the cabin, was hit in the shoulder, according to the regional daily Progress.

In court on Monday

The driver, found a few moments later, was taken into custody, added the prosecution. He must be presented this Sunday to a judge of freedoms and detention with a view to his appearance before the criminal court on Monday afternoon.

He must be tried for “refusal to comply, lack of a driving license, driving under the influence of an alcoholic state and violence with a weapon (the vehicle) on a person holding public authority”.
