A firearm found “quite incidentally”. This is the explanation given by a high school student – a boarding student at the Jules Haag high school in Besançon (Doubs) – after entering the establishment in possession of a 9 mm type handgun. When the supervisors of the high school boarding school where he attended learned that he was in possession of a weapon, the 16-year-old was arrested and placed in police custody.
However, he was not arrested “in a context where he is aggressive with this weapon” which he did not use, specifies the public prosecutor of Besançon, Etienne Manteau, confirming information from the newspaper l’Est Républicain . According to the regional daily, the student, enrolled in second vocational school, was suspended as a precautionary measure, pending a disciplinary council in December.
