A call for donations to save Ernesto, a dragon fish from the Aquarium

Ernesto is an Arowana, also called dragon fish, with beautiful measurements: 80 cm long and 6 kg. This freshwater fish which has almost disappeared in the wild is highly sought after by aquarists. Ernesto lived for ten years in the aquarium of a private individual who pampered him, but, because he grew so much, he gave it up to the Scale Reserve. This association founded by Limoges Aquarium, must make it possible to cope with the abandonment of these new pets (NAC). Reserve calls for donations to fund an eye operation for Ernesto, because if he becomes completely blind he will not be able to feed himself and will die.

An operation estimated at 1,000 euros

In the wild, the arowana eats birds in flight. He comes out of the water and then eats on the surface. “Unfortunately, without knowing it, his owner was feeding him on the ground and Ernesto’s eyes adapted (…) And now his eyes are falling out and a skin is beginning to cover his beautiful eyes”, explains the association. The amount of the operation is estimated at 1,000 euros, and the reserve hopes to raise this sum as soon as possible.
