A 35% increase for single-parent families

A Christmas bonus is being paid this Friday to more than 2.2 million low-income households. This bonus will be exceptionally increased this year by 35% for single-parent families, the government announced.

The Christmas bonus is paid to all beneficiaries of the active solidarity income (RSA), the specific solidarity allowance (ASS), the fixed bonus for resumption of activity and the retirement equivalent allowance (AER), specifies the Ministry of Solidarity and Families in a press release.

744,000 households will benefit from the increased premium

It will be paid automatically, Friday, for a minimum amount of 152.45 euros (excluding Mayotte, whose scale is specific) by Pôle emploi, the CNAF and the MSA (Agricultural Social Security).

This year, it is increased by 35% for single-parent families, or more than 744,000 households, announces the ministry. One in five single-parent families are in poverty, compared to 7% of couples with children, according to INSEE.
