Rejected Scorpions, Prince and Fleetwood Mac as guests at the same time, and of course the legendary door – Michael Käfer, Franz Rauch and Klaus Gunschmann, heroes of the early days, explain how a world-famous club was able to emerge in Munich.
The three men still laugh at some anecdotes. Michael Käfer, who took over the P1 in 1984, Franz Rauch, who became a business partner a little later and is still a partner today, and Klaus Gunschmann, a bouncer from 1986 to 1992 and now the operator of the Fox bar, are sitting in the P1 office on Monday lunchtime. They talk about the beginnings, how the club became so well known that Gunschmann himself was courted in New York, how fundamentally the nightlife has changed and that an exhibition is now planned at the Haus der Kunst.
