4.1 percent – Inflation in Bavaria falls significantly – Bavaria

Inflation in Bavaria fell to its lowest level in over two years in September. Compared to the same month last year, it was 4.1 percent, as the State Statistics Office in Fürth announced on Thursday. That is 1.8 percentage points less than a month ago. Inflation in Bavaria was last lower in August 2021.

Last year, inflation temporarily reached 9 percent. The brakes on inflation in September included heating oil and fuels, which were 31.7 and 11.4 percent cheaper, respectively, than a year earlier. The price of natural gas fell by 8.4 percent, while the price of wood pellets and other solid fuels fell by 24.1 percent. Electricity, on the other hand, became more expensive by 7 percent.

On average, rents rose by 2.3 percent, slower than the general price level. Food prices, on the other hand, continued to rise at an above-average rate of 7.7 percent compared to the same month last year. Here too, however, the increase is lower than in August.
