Nine cars burned in front of a mosque, an investigation opened

It’s hard to believe it’s a coincidence. An investigation was opened this Sunday after the fire of nine vehicles in front of the Cherbourg mosque, we learned from the city prosecutor’s office and firefighters. She had already been the target of a shotgun blast and Islamophobic tags.

During the night from Saturday to Sunday, around 3:30 a.m., there was “a car fire which spread to eight others in an open parking lot. (…) A total of nine vehicles are affected,” indicated the Manche Departmental Fire and Rescue Operational Center, confirming information from local media. The fire was extinguished “using two lances”.

Open investigation

The public prosecutor of Cherbourg, Pierre-Yves Marot, confirmed the facts and indicated that an investigation was underway. Islamophobic tags, including death threats, were discovered at the end of November on this mosque and at the beginning of April an investigation was opened after the discovery of a bullet hole in the gate.
