A three-year-old child died overnight from Saturday to Sunday at Mother Child Hospital in Bron, near Lyon, a few hours after a football goal fell on her. The tragedy occurred in a sports complex in Gorrevod, commune of Ain.
That same morning, the little victim’s sister was taking part in a futsal tournament, football in a gymnasium on a handball court. The little girl was playing near a removable cage when it fell for an as yet undetermined reason, reports Progress.
An open investigation
The child quickly complained of pain before having a first cardiac arrest. The emergency services rushed him to the hospital, where the doctors first thought of a hematoma on the head. They then discovered that the little girl had had a punctured liver. The care provided failed to keep her alive.
An investigation has been opened by the Ain gendarmerie.
