Second division team Paderborn is looking for an experienced and dangerous player. Ex-Wolfsburger Kruse fits the profile.

Second division soccer club SC Paderborn 07 is interested in signing the former international Max Kruse not confirmed. “These are rumors and we don’t comment on individual players,” said communications manager Matthias Heck.

The club is dealing with several players, but nothing has been signed. The TV broadcaster Sky had previously reported on East Westphalia’s alleged interest in the clubless 35-year-old.

Kruse was with Bundesliga club VfL Wolfsburg until last November and probably has no end of career in mind. In terms of sport, an experienced player with a risk of scoring would definitely help the second division team. “We were a bit lacking in game maturity recently,” said coach Lukas Kwasniok at the start of training.

Personally weakened

The club lost one of their top scorers in Marvin Pieringer (10 goals) and an experienced striker in Dennis Srbeny (4). In addition, striker Felix Platte (7) is prone to injury.

Under normal circumstances, Kruse would certainly break the salary structure of the East Westphalian club. He himself has recently made good profits in live tournaments in poker. Perhaps the professional, who has often made the headlines, is also tempted by a sporting challenge in the 2nd Bundesliga.

In the history of the SCP there has also been a spectacular coaching commitment that was not to be expected. In 2015, Stefan Effenberg was hired by the Paderborners – but it only worked for about six months.
