“20 Minutes”, the first news brand in France for online information

Once again thank you. Each time 20 minutes appears well rated in a ranking, we can only thank the readers who follow us and trust us. When 20 minutes arrived at the top of a ranking, we blush, we smile, we welcome it and the first thing that comes to mind is to thank you loyal followers of our newspaper, our website, our social networks, our videos and podcasts. Today, we say a very big THANK YOU. In effect, 20 minutes ranks at the top of the news brands most used to learn online, each week, according to the Digital News Report 2023.

“This reinforces our mission to make information accessible to as many people as possible, through free access but also thanks to innovation and the multiplication of formats for distributing our content”, explains Ronan Dubois, Managing Director and publishing director of 20 minutes.

36% of French people avoid the news

This survey by the Reuters Institute for the University of Oxford – carried out in 46 countries between January and February 2023 among 93,000 consumers of digital information – reveals media consumption habits and the latest developments in terms of use.

We thus learn that 36% of French people sometimes or often avoid the news. And only 11% of French people subscribe to a paid press offer. Nearly 47% of French people who do not subscribe to a paid offer consider that nothing could encourage them to pay for access to confirmation. To these, we can only remind them that 20 minutes is 100% free and that our information is sourced and verified.
