ZOB: Munich’s first pizza vending machine – Munich

Who would have thought 20 years ago that practically everyone now carries a small box with them, and if you press the right button on it, someone will come and bring you pizza. It can be assumed that the peak in gastronomic delivery services would not have been as high without smartphones and online ordering platforms.

In addition to the smartphone, the hungry person also needs an address to which the messenger should bring the food. But what if the person is traveling? After all, it’s hard for him to state “main train station, next to the pedestrian traffic lights, right next to the tram stop” as the delivery destination. When all the restaurants are closed, it’s difficult to keep your stomach from growling. Now, however, there is a way to get a piece of Italian flat bread with a topping even under the most adverse circumstances: near the central bus station, ZOB for short, Munich’s first pizza machine has been around for some time, available day and night and able to says the standee, throwing out a freshly baked pizza in just four minutes.

How is this possible? Well, that works according to the same principle as with the ATMs, where, as you know, there is always a cashier who makes sure that the correct amount is paid out. A small Italian sits in the pizza machine, which is easy to accomplish because the Italian tends to belong to the not-so-giant phenotype. The chef sits in the vending machine and listens to Adriano Celentano all day – until a customer comes. Then he takes a prepared ball of dough, turns and swirls it until it has reached the prescribed thickness and diameter, spreads tomato sauce on it, tops it with ham, salami or mushrooms, sprinkles generously with mozzarella, and puts it in the oven.

After four minutes, a conveyor belt takes the finished pizza outside, the customer is happy and yet has no idea about the little man who did the job for him. He has now returned to Celentano, “Una festa sui prati” – a party on the lawn, that would be something now, but he has to be ready for the next pizza customer, late at night, without a smartphone and delivery address. ..
