Yvan Attal: His “vast” Parisian apartment (and that of Charlotte Gainsbourg) sublimated by a very special architect

Yvan Attal celebrates his 59th birthday this Thursday, January 4, 2024. His famous partner Charlotte Gainsbourg sent him a nice statement on her Instagram account in the morning. “Happy birthday my love“, she wrote in the story in the caption of a photo of the actor and director in black and white, before resuming the post from a fan account which showed them in full hug. An attention which has the merit to be highlighted, as the actress is not the type to expose her private life.

And this despite more than thirty years of love and the birth of their three children (Ben, 26 years old, Alice, 21 years old, and Jo, 12 years old). What the daughter of the late Jane Birkin prefers above all is to enjoy her family out of sight. Their family moments are precious. They spend most of the time in their Parisian home, located rue du Bac, in the 7th arrondissement of the capital, which they moved to on their return from New York. It is a large apartment renovated by the architect Erwan Gayet, who is none other than the brother of Julie, the famous actress and wife of François Hollande.

The Gainsbourg-Attals, loyal to the 7th arrondissement

Between parquet floors, moldings and exposed beams, this place corresponds to the bourgeois bohemian criteria of the Parisian left bank. “Charlotte knew exactly what she wanted“, informed the site manager to our colleagues at Paris Match in an article published on November 15, 2014 and updated in February 2022. It is in this apartment that Ben, Alice and Jo were raised. They grew up with guitars and a piano, as well as the regular presence of some close family friends. Indeed, the Gainsbourg-Attals love to entertain.

Alain Chabat, Clovis Cornillac and Noémie Lvosky, as well as Vincent Lindon, who shares Yvan’s passion for poker, have passed through the door of this apartment. Note also that this one is not very far from that of Verneuil, which belonged to Serge Gainsbourg and which saw the birth of his daughter Charlotte Gainsbourg. At the time, it was Verneuil which was the rallying point. Since the singer’s death, Yvan Attal and his family have continued to live in the neighborhood since they are based a few hundred meters away, rue du Bac.
