Youtube star on ADHD: “You’re not a broken version of normal”

More than 1.6 million people have subscribed to Jessica McCabe’s YouTube channel “How to ADHD.” A lot of what she says in her explanatory videos and her book about ADHD is something she would have liked to have known as a child and as a young woman.

When the American Jessica McCabe found out at the age of twelve that she had attention deficit disorder (ADD), she was one thing above all: relieved. There was finally an explanation for why she struggled with many things that other children could do easily. For example, bringing home the jacket she had worn to school that morning. “If it wasn’t firmly attached to your body, you would lose your head somewhere,” her mother often said.
