“You will be shorn at the Liberation”… MP Cyrielle Chatelain denounces the threats of MP Jean-René Cazeneuve

New controversy in the National Assembly. The president of the environmentalist deputies, Cyrielle Chatelain, asked this Wednesday for sanctions against Jean-René Cazeneuve (Renaissance), deputy for Gers, whom she accuses of having told her in the hemicycle that she would be “shorn at the Liberation for having voted with the RN”.

The incident occurred on Tuesday, during the government questions session electrified by the rejection of the immigration bill. Cyrielle Chatelain therefore wrote a letter of protest addressed to the President of the National Assembly, Yaël Braun-Pivet (Renaissance).

An attack considered sexist

“The shearing of women at the Liberation constituted an attack on their physical integrity and a destruction of what represented their femininity. The message is clear: as a woman, I must stay in my place and hold my tongue,” said the MP, requesting in her letter “a disciplinary penalty” against her colleague.

The environmentalist MP had hoped that her request would be included in the program of the Office of the National Assembly on Wednesday, but it will only be examined at the next meeting of this executive body, after the winter break, we were told. learned from a parliamentary source.

A wave of support for the MP

Even if the principal concerned “firmly denies” the comments reported by the MP, which do not appear in the minutes of the session. But the first secretary of the Socialist Party (PS), who sits very close to Cyrielle Chatelain and Jean-René Cazeneuve, spoke on X (ex-Twitter): “As a direct witness to this scene, I confirm it”.

On the same social network, the president of the socialist group, Boris Vallaud, singled out the comments of the Gers MP, describing them as “misogynistic, insulting, outrageous”. For her part, the leader of the deputies La France insoumise (LFI) supports the complaint of her environmentalist colleague: “A defeat on the immigration law can in no way justify these remarks of incredible violence and crass sexism” .
