You are an only child and very happy to be so, tell us!

“It must be so sad”, “honestly, I wouldn’t have liked it”, “weren’t you bored when you were little? »… Every only child has heard one of these remarks. Long complained of, people without brothers or sisters are becoming more and more numerous. Because the French are having fewer and fewer babies. In 2023, 678,000 children will be born in France, according to INSEE. This is 6.6% less than in 2022, and almost 20% less than in 2010. Women have on average 1.68 children in 2023, compared to 1.79 in 2022.

In front of this situation, 20 minutes asks: Are the remarks made against only children founded? What if being the only child in the family had lots of advantages? We would like to have your opinion!

Are you an only child and you experienced this situation very well during your youth (and even today)? For what ? What were the advantages of being “alone” at home? Do you think you could have done more things with your parents? Did you enjoy having them all to yourself? Did that push you to make lots of friends? Or on the contrary, do you regret not having had brothers and sisters? tell us
