Yirgalem Fisseha Mebrahtu is awarded the Georg Elser Prize – Munich

How closely emotions are connected was demonstrated at the Georg Elser Prize award ceremony. The Eritrean writer Yirgalem Fisseha Mebrahtu was honored for her commitment against undemocratic structures. The city named one of its most important prizes after the carpenter Georg Elser, who single-handedly tried to kill Hitler with a bomb in what was then the Bürgerbräukeller in 1939. It is awarded every two years and is endowed with 5,000 euros.
