XRT at the Nuremberg State Theater: Pixels from the Realm of the Dead – Culture

The Staatstheater Nürnberg opens the XRT, its venue for digital theater, with “Mythos PAN” – an innovation that is still in its infancy, but is a promise.

Roman Senkl is skeptical in a pleasant way. Because he knows. He ran the laboratory for digital arts at the Berliner Festspiele, did something similar at the Dortmund Theater, and has been working with his group Minus.eins on the possibilities of digital theater for ten years. Before that he studied directing at the Ernst-Busch-Schauspielschule. Now, together with Nils Corte, he directs the XRT of the Staatsschauspiel Nuremberg. XRT stands for Extended Reality Theater, in Nuremberg the smallest venue under the roof was cleared, then Corte and Senkl packed it with digital technology. The XRT is, along with the Technical Ballroom of the Oldenburg State Theater, probably the only stage at a German city or state theater that is used exclusively to explore the possibilities of digital technology in the theater, on which technology does not have to be set up and dismantled in a project-related manner .
