A five-year-old drowned in the Main in Würzburg. The father lost sight of his child in a playground early Tuesday evening and reported him missing, police said on Wednesday. Half an hour later, the emergency services found the child’s clothing on the banks of the Main near the playground. Then rescue divers discovered the lifeless body of the boy, according to the information, at the bottom of the river.
An emergency doctor tried to reanimate the five-year-old and he was taken to a hospital. He died shortly afterwards as a result of the accident. Crisis intervention forces looked after the parents on site. The exact cause of the accident has yet to be determined. A police helicopter, a service dog, the water police and the water rescue service took part in the search.
