Würmtal duo wins first prize at “Jugend musiziert” – district of Munich

The fact that music overcomes borders and has a connecting force does not always have to have global dimensions, it also works on a small scale: A joint project of the two neighboring Würmtal music schools Gräfelfing and Planegg-Krailling has now also had a great success. 11-year-old Johannes Schmitt on the flute and pianist Anson Wu, 13, won first prize in the category “Duo: piano and a woodwind instrument” at the “Jugend musiziert” national competition in Oldenburg.

With a demanding and virtuoso program, they were able to convince both the jury and the audience, which was reflected in the sustained applause in Oldenburg. Their teachers were also happy: Nicola Wiebe, flute teacher at the youth music school in Gräfelfing, and Elisabeth Glauber-Diehl, piano teacher at the music school in Planegg-Krailling, they initiated the collaboration. The two young musicians, who were attested an “extraordinarily lively and musically differentiated performance”, can now also demonstrate their skills at the honoring event for all Bavarian participants in the national competition on July 1st in Munich. The Bayerischer Rundfunk will record them.
