After a balanced third session in the final of the Snooker World Championships, Kyren Wilson is on the verge of winning the title. The 32-year-old Englishman is leading 15:10 against Welsh qualifier Jak Jones in the World Cup final after three of four sessions and needs three more frames in the evening (8 p.m./Eurosport) to secure the title.

Outsider Jones had made a false start the day before and was 1:7 behind. Since then the game has been evenly matched. The Welshman would have to win eight of a maximum of ten game periods in the evening to crown his comeback.

After all top ten players are eliminated by the quarterfinals, Wilson and Jones contest a surprise final. Wilson was already in the final in 2020 and is now on the verge of the biggest triumph of his career. With a win he would move up to third place in the world rankings. Seven-time world champion Ronnie O’Sullivan from England will be replaced at the helm by Mark Allen from Northern Ireland. This is already certain regardless of the outcome of the final.
