There are still many unanswered questions in the case of the dead girl from Wunsiedel. For the public prosecutor, however, it is now clear: It was not an accident. You’re investigating a homicide.

A small alley leads directly from the Catholic church to the twelve apostles to the child and youth welfare facility in Wunsiedel. Birds are chirping, the sun is shining. Of course, the local police officers are not interested in that.

They have to clarify what happened behind these walls a few days ago: a ten-year-old girl was found lifeless. The public prosecutor assumes a homicide. Matthias Goers, spokesman for the public prosecutor’s office in Hof, said on Thursday that there were no suspects or suspects.

After the allegedly violent death of the girl, the investigative authorities did not assume a sexual offense. According to a joint press release by the police and the public prosecutor’s office, the detectives were “currently unable to confirm suspicions regarding a possible sexual offence”. Goers said: “We do not assume any sexual offenses.” The police are investigating the background of the death with a 40-strong special commission.

State Minister for Family Affairs Scharf visits the facility

Otherwise, the police and prosecutors keep a low profile. Bavaria’s Family Minister Ulrike Scharf (CSU) arrived in Wunsiedel on Thursday afternoon. She withdrew to the facility for about an hour, accompanied by the district administrator, mayor and local member of parliament. Then she put down a bouquet of flowers – and praised the house for accompanying the other children. The carrier responded immediately and increased staff, she said. We work “hand in hand” for the benefit of the children.

The majority of the children and young people are still in the facility. She did not say exactly how many are currently there. “The children need protection in their familiar surroundings so that they can work through the situation with their carers.”

She hopes that there will soon be an investigation result so that normality can return to the facility. “It’s dramatic what happened here.” The facility has an excellent reputation, she added.

The child and youth welfare facility blends inconspicuously into the image of the 9,200-inhabitant town. The complex is currently being renovated, and play equipment has been set up in the garden. There is a fence, but the facility is not hermetically sealed.

According to the agency, around 90 children and young adults between the ages of 3 and 19 are cared for there. The staff of the house also consists of about 90 employees. The specialist facility is there for young people and their families who need help with education, according to the website of the house. “The children come from difficult situations,” said Minister Scharf.
