The actions of the accused testify to “terrifying unscrupulousness” and lack the existence of any morality, said the public prosecutor on Wednesday in her plea before the Ingolstadt district court. The naturopath Renate G. and the entrepreneur Ulrich B. cheated the terminally ill in a reprehensible way and took the money out of their pockets. They had promised them a cure with the preparation BG-Mun, which was nothing more than a “waste product”, ineffective and not licensed as a drug. And not because they wanted to help the seriously ill, but only to enrich themselves: “It’s really crazy.”
The public prosecutor accuses the two commercial fraud in 17 (Renate G.) and 18 (Ulrich B.) cases, a violation of the Medicines Act and in the case of Renate G., who is said to have falsely presented herself as a professor, abuse of title. For Ulrich B., who has been in custody for about three years, she is demanding a prison sentence of eight years. He was the “inventor of this scam”. But the Schrobenhausen alternative practitioner, who was in custody for 14 months, is also to be seen as an “equal partner”. The public prosecutor’s office has given her a prison sentence of three years and ten months. In order to prevent B. and G. from benefiting from their alleged fraud, the state should collect almost 244,000 euros from B. and around 43,000 euros from G. If it were up to the public prosecutor’s office, both would have to go to prison.
In her plea, which lasted a good three hours, the prosecutor summarized the suffering of about 15 patients. Above all, seriously ill cancer patients sat in Renate G.’s practice. Some of them came home euphoric and raved about the miracle drug BG-Mun. It could cure cancer with almost 100% probability, it would burst metastases, eat away at cancer cells and burn them. This is what G. and B. told the desperate, some of whom they advised against chemotherapy, and many died. According to the public prosecutor’s office, the two knew exactly that BG-Mun had no healing effect.
According to experts, the preparation consists of proteins from beef and pork. As early as 2015, when B. contacted the manufacturer, he was informed that BG-Mun should not be used for medical purposes. By 2017 at the latest, when a cancer patient died despite treatment with BG-Mun, the public prosecutor felt that this realization should have overtaken G. as well.

But the two continued and sold their preparation, which B. bought for 45 euros a bottle, for around 600 euros a bottle. If metastases appeared or a girl with diabetes vomited after taking it, they said the family just had to believe in the therapy or criticized conventional medicine. B. is said to have once told a patient that if she didn’t take BG-Mun, she would get stomach cancer. Another time he claimed that BG-Mun healed him after an accident and got him out of his wheelchair. B. is said to have introduced himself as a count, G. as a professor. They said the preparation came from Russia, had previously been approved as a drug, but was withdrawn by the pharmaceutical industry because it was too successful.
There was no sign of remorse, the prosecutor said at the end of her plea. The negotiation continues.
