Construction work: S-Bahn services are only running to a limited extent on two weekends. – Munich

Due to construction work, customers of the Munich S-Bahn have to be prepared for severe restrictions again on two weekends in May. It starts next weekend: From Friday, May 3rd, 10:30 p.m. to Monday, May 6th, 4:40 a.m., no S-Bahn traffic will be possible on the entire main route. From the west, the S-Bahn only runs to Pasing, Hauptbahnhof or Heimeranplatz, from the east only to Giesing or Leuchtenbergring. The S 8 is rerouted via the Südring, is the only line that stops at Ostbahnhof and thus creates a direct connection between Ostbahnhof and Pasing.

There will also be timetable changes on the Pentecost weekend. From Friday, May 17th, 9:20 p.m. to Tuesday, May 21st, 4:40 a.m., only the S 2, S 7 and S 8 lines will run through the main route as usual during the day. At night from around 9:20 p.m. the S-Bahn tracks in the Laim area are completely closed and only the S 7 line runs regularly. Replacement buses run every ten minutes between Pasing and the main train station. In addition, tram 19 runs on request from the S-Bahn between Pasing and Stachus from 10 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. every ten minutes.

Deutsche Bahn (DB) is combining a wide variety of construction projects and is working on tracks, switches and in the stations as well as on the new electronic signal box at the Ostbahnhof. On the long Whitsun weekend, the DB is building the second main line and the Sendlinger Spange in Laim. Among other things, work is underway on the control and safety technology as well as on bridge structures and overhead line systems.

The DB provides information on the platforms with notices, ceiling monitors and announcements on the trains, and all the details are available online s-bahn-muenchen.de/baustellen to find. All changes are also included in the timetable information. Anyone who plans their trip using the apps in the MVV, on the website or at the ticket machine will automatically be shown the fastest connection. The Munich S-Bahn deploys additional staff to provide information at many stations.

If you have any questions, the Munich S-Bahn customer dialog is available daily from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. on 089/55 89 26 65.
