Sports journalist Grant Wahl († 48) is during the quarterfinals between Argentina and the Netherlands Soccer World Cup died in Qatar. Now it is also known what the cause of death was: Wahl died of an aneurysm.
What happened?

The journalists sitting next to him immediately called the helpers. Paramedics were quickly on site. Chairs were handed out to place Wahl on the floor. There was an attempt to revive him for minutes. The bad news later: the efforts were in vain.

The autopsy has now revealed that Wahl had an aneurysm of the ascending aorta. This was announced by Wahl’s wife Celine Gounder (45) on Wednesday on the American TV station “CBS”.
His body was taken to New York on Monday, where the autopsy was performed.
Gounder: No CPR or shock could have saved him. His death was unrelated to Covid. His death was unrelated to his vaccination status. There was nothing shameful about his death.”
Wahl had worked for “Sports Illustrated” and the broadcaster CBS, among others. This was his eighth time as a reporter at a soccer World Cup. According to the AP news agency, Wahl wrote on Monday that he had been in a hospital because of health problems.
