Hans Dieter Strack can’t do much with the motto of this year’s World Alzheimer’s Day: “Dementia – the world is upside down.” After his wife was diagnosed, the 84-year-old stood by her side every day before Annelene Mirow-Strack died a year ago at the age of 83. The time of illness shaped the former Protestant pastor in Ebersberg and later city dean in Munich and showed him more than ever that the world is not just the head – “but also the heart,” as he says.
