Victim of bad weather. A septuagenarian died this Sunday in Bas-Rhin, crushed by a tree after “gusts of wind”, we learned from the firefighters. The tragedy occurred around 3:30 p.m. in Saint-Blaise-La-Roche, a town about sixty kilometers southwest of Strasbourg. Bas-Rhin was placed on Sunday by Météo-France on yellow thunderstorm alert.
“A 70-year-old woman was crushed by a tree following gusts of wind in the area,” the departmental fire and rescue operational center (Codis) said in a press release.
According to the regional daily The Latest News from Alsace, she was picking mushrooms when the tree fell on her. When they arrived, “the emergency services could only note his death”, according to Codis.
