Woman dies after ramming WWII tank

It was around noon when the tragedy took place. A 55-year-old woman died Tuesday in Sarthe after hitting a World War II tank, located in the town of Mézières-sur-Ponthouin.

According to the newspaper West France, the motorist, who had to be extricated by firefighters, was not wearing his seat belt. An investigation has been opened to find out more about the circumstances of this accident.

The tank, belonging to the 2nd Armored Division, was installed along this road in 1996.
