Woman arrested after ex-rugby player dies in fire

It was apparently not a banal and dramatic accident. And a suspect is now in police custody. On Saturday December 30 in the morning, firefighters from Hautes-Pyrénées were called to fight the fire which ravaged a residential house in Lesponne, a hamlet in the commune of Bagnères-de-Bigorre, located around thirty kilometers to the south. south of Tarbes.

The charred body of a man was pulled from the rubble. If the victim has not yet been formally identified, it is likely Benjamin Arnauné, a 33-year-old sales executive. The local rugby club also paid tribute on Saturday to its former scrum half.

But, five days after the events, the investigation took a completely different turn. The Pau public prosecutor’s office, which took over from that of Tarbes, opened a judicial investigation on Wednesday for assassination. A wanted notice was issued the same day in police stations and gendarmes in the area to find Tatiana B., the ex-partner of Benjamin Arnauné, from whom he had just separated, and who had remained untraceable since the events.

She was finally arrested this Thursday, around 2:30 p.m., confirmed to 20 minutes Rodolphe Jarry, the public prosecutor of Pau. This 36-year-old woman must now be interviewed by investigators.
