One afternoon in October, Wolfgang Schäuble is sitting in his office. You can see the zoo and the Chancellery through the window, and the soft autumn sun shines in the large office of the President of the Bundestag. Everything is still the same here. But in a few days the carpet cleaners will show up. Helpers will pack their things. Schäuble, the big, old, and recently heavily controversial CDU man, will become a perfectly normal member of parliament.
