Wolfgang Rihm is world-renowned as a composer of new music. His oeuvre is enormous, comprising several hundred works, including many operas, piano pieces, string quartets and song cycles. They are performed by the most famous musicians and are also loved by the general public. Rihm, who was born in Karlsruhe in 1952, turns 70 this Sunday.
