Climate activists at Munich Airport: “Last Generation” disrupts the start of the Whitsun holidays – Munich

Climate activists stuck themselves to the airport grounds early on Saturday morning. Around 60 departures are canceled and some arriving planes are diverted. The first calls for higher penalties are becoming louder.

Climate activists from the so-called “last generation” disrupted air traffic at Munich Airport on Saturday morning at the start of the Whitsun holidays in Bavaria. At dawn, a total of eight members of the group tried to break into the grounds of the “Franz Josef Strauss” airport. Six activists succeeded, two were arrested immediately after cutting the fence, the others later, said a spokesman for the SZ federal police. A spokesman for the airport confirmed to the German Press Agency early in the morning: “The airport is closed for security reasons because climate activists have stuck themselves to the runways.”
