Exercise is a must. Sunday at 8 p.m., on the television screens of the French, the President of the Republic will send them his best wishes for the year 2024. With the hope of a year more unifying and less hectic than 2023, both on the international level (Israel-Hamas war) and interior (pension reform, immigration law, urban violence, inflation). Emmanuel Macron should not return to these events, already discussed at length on December 20 on France 5, but look forward to a year which promises to be full of major events.

In “C à vous”, Emmanuel Macron promised a “new course” in 2024. “I want next year to tackle new big challenges”, “in line” from the triptych “liberate, protect, unite”, he clarified. On Sunday, the head of state will give “the axes of the main reforms which will mark 2024”, indicated his entourage to TF1 and LCI. Among them should be the long-awaited bill on the end of life, the inclusion of abortion in the Constitution and an economic reform to achieve the objective of full employment in 2027. The president could also give clues on his wish to carry out a reshuffle.

Act and move forward “collectively”

He will remind “the importance of continuing to act and move forward collectively” this new year. He will emphasize the major international events which will take place in France and will help to unite the country, in particular the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Paris.

The month of January 2024 will also mark that of its “meeting with the Nation”. This new political object is still vague, but the presidential entourage clarified this Friday that it “it will be a series of meetings, events, moments which will mark the month of January”. On this subject, Emmanuel Macron should not say much more on Sunday.
