Wirtz with album “DNA” in Munich Backstage – Munich

Anyone who has always confused the musician Daniel Wirtz with the footballer Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen might now be even more confused. Because the German rocker storms boldly into the title track to the new album “DNA”, “with cleats” and with football pitch phrases: “Hey third league, listened / Now the German champion is speaking.” He turned around a game that was almost lost when the score was 0:2…

Briefly explained: Daniel Wirtz only had success with his troupe around the year 2000 Sub7even (Bravo-Stories and so on), then, after initial difficulties, also as a solo singer-songwriter, not least through TV appearances in “Das Tauschkonzert” and in his own Vox music show “Blind Date im Wirtzhaus”. Then Corona slowed him down a lot – and he’s now shouting out the pent-up frustration on “DNA”. Musically, it’s grungy stadium rock with the help of his Maffay-Lindenberg connection Pascal Kravetz and JB Meijers, but lyrically it’s sometimes lateral-thinking defiance. In the end, he didn’t end up at the proclaimed top of the table (“First place is reserved!”), but at least in fourth place.

Wirtz, Sunday, February 18th, 8 p.m., Munich, Backstage
