The week is in the north continues wintry today. In the morning, pedestrians, cyclists and drivers in large parts of northern Germany have to be prepared again for ice rain and snowfall.
After temperatures around the freezing point during the night, according to the forecast by WetterWelt, rain will come from Lower Saxony this morning from the north-east, which will change from Hamburg to Wendland, in Mecklenburg and Schleswig-Holstein in areas to freezing rain, sleet or snow. There is a risk of ice in these areas until the morning.

No more frost from Wednesday
According to the meteorologists, the daily highs today are 0 degrees in Stralsund, 3 degrees in Neumünster, 4 degrees in Lüneburg, 6 degrees in Oldenburg and up to 8 degrees in Nordhorn. From tomorrow on, the temperatures in the north should come out of the minus range again at night. The highs on Wednesday would be between 2 and 9 degrees. On Thursday it should be a little milder with changing clouds with passing rain showers with maximum values of 4 to 11 degrees Celsius.
Several slippery accidents at the beginning of the week in Lower Saxony
After a frosty weekend in northern Germany – up to ten centimeters of snow fell in the north-east – snow swept across the country on Monday night, especially in the southern half of Lower Saxony. Where the snow turned to rain, there was sometimes ice. There were several accidents in the Göttingen area between Sunday evening and Monday morning. According to police information, however, there was property damage.
MV: Pedestrian injured in Castle Stargard
According to the police, there were also a number of slippery accidents in eastern Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania on Monday morning. A pedestrian was injured when hit by a vehicle in Castle Stargard. At the weekend, most of the weather-related accidents in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and Lower Saxony ended lightly.
The police called on drivers to switch from summer to winter tires now at the latest.
